MEET DANIEL CALIXTE

Daniel Calixte was born in Chancerelles, Haiti. He immigrated to the United States
when he was a teenager to come live with one of his relatives. He learned at an
early age that education is the master key to success. After many struggles as an
immigrant, he earned his first degree in sociology and then a second baccalaureate
in business administration with a specialization in healthcare management from
AIU. He went on to Florida International University, Steven J. Green School of
International and Public Affairs, where he gained a grant writer specialist
certification.
Endowed with compassion, and kindness, Daniel’s passion to assist his community
has led him to open the first Haitian-owned not-for-profit-home health care agency
and adult day care center in the City of North Miami subsidized by both the Florida
State legislature and the City of North Miami.
While helping the unserved, and underserved, Daniel volunteered his time to work
in various facets of the political campaigns to better understand the electoral
process.
Daniel participated in lobbying and rallying against state budget cuts, to provide
essential services to the frailed, elderly, and disabled kids, including immigration.
Eventually, he teamed up with other concerned leaders to advocate on behalf of the
less fortunate in the community. As a result, the Haitian Refugee Immigration
Fairness Act (HRIFA), by Congress on October 21, 1998, was enacted. A
provision was declared to provide for the permanent resident status adjustment of
Haitian nationals (and their spouses and children) who were paroled into the
United States or filed for amnesty before December 31, 1995.
Daniel has dedicated the past thirty (30) years to assisting the North Miami
community in various capacities. Danielโ€™s experience in municipal government,
nonprofit organization, and grant writing has proven he is fiscally responsible. He
is an educated professional, highly respected and loved by his family, friends, and
colleagues.
Daniel is devoted and ready to lead as District 4โ€™s Councilman in the city of North
Miami.
